NonStop picks up eight films

LONDON -- Stockholm-based distrib NonStop Ent. picked up eight titles for the Nordic and Baltic markets at a buoyant Cannes. Titles included French drama "The Snows of Kilimanjaro," directed by Robert Guediguian -- which played at Cannes in Un Certain Regard, South Korean domestic box office hit "The Yellow Sea," and documentaries about luxury fashion brand Givenchy, gourmet restaurant El Bulli, and U.S. comedian and former Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien. Other pickups include "Blackthorn," a new take on the classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Western legend, starring Sam Shepard, that Magnolia will release theatrically in the U.S. later this year; "The Assault," a drama based on the true story of the hijacking of a French Airbus in Algeria in 1994; and "Crematorium," a Spanish miniseries depicting the corruption and abuse of power in Spanish society. NonStop Ent.'s sister company NonStop Television also acquired no fewer than 99 new titles at Cannes for the Nordic and Baltic TV channels TNT7, Showtime and Silver through deals with Bankside, Showbox, Elle Driver and Scanbox.
