Satellite Radio Facts You May Be Surprised To Learn About ...

The newest thing in radio technology is satellite radio. These radio signals are beamed down from the sky. The old fashioned radio technology, that is still used by most people by the way, is from electromagnetic waves sent from towers that are disbursed all over the country. Could satellite radio eventually replace the tower signals in the near future?

Many new car owners especially are turning to satellite radio as an alternative to the standard way of tuning in radio stations. Many of the newest vehicles come already equipped to receive satellite radio signals. If you still own an older car, you can purchase and install the equipment needed to receive the signals too.

When you are listening to the electromagnetic radio wave stations at home or local stations in your car, you can generally pick up a clear and crisp sounding reception. It is when you are on the move that can affect the quality of the signal that you get from a tower station. Satellite signals can be sent for many, many miles all around and losing the signal entirely is rare. You can drive a long, long way and listen to the exact same station. This is not really possible with tower signals because as you travel you move out of range of the signal.

Other than the ability to listen to the same great station for the majority of almost any car trip, satellite radio listeners also enjoy the fact that satellite radio stations are virtually commercial free. This is accomplished because you do have to pay for satellite radio which eliminates the need for paid advertisers to support the station. The crystal clear sound you receive from satellite radio combined with no commercials and no interruption from losing the station signal is enough reason for a lot of people to subscribe to satellite radio.

Whether you are on the cutting edge and have satellite radio or the old fashioned kind, it would appear that radio will not be going anywhere anytime soon. People have DVD players in their vehicles all the time now, but that has not affected the need for a radio at all. Riding down the road in a car simply requires a radio. It is a habit that we will probably never be able to break. We are accustomed to having great music and other programming of our own choosing while we ride around.
