News from the Victor Chamber of Commerce - Victor, NY - Victor Post

Identity Theft was the topic of discussion at the chamber?s Breakfast Before Business meeting in September. Michael Cassell of Legal Shield, a provider of pre-paid legal services, explained what options are available for employers to help protect their employees from identity theft and what can be done if one is a victim of identity theft. Cassell said that one of the biggest expenses of dealing with identity theft is the time it takes to clear one?s credit history. He suggested that people should consider signing up with companies such as LegalShield that have professionals on staff that do the work to clear your name.

A health insurance update and Q&A will be the topic at the chamber?s next Breakfast Before Business on Friday, Oct. 12, from 7-8 a.m. at Denny?s Restaurant, Rt. 96 and Main Street, Fishers. Mike Gurowski, CEO of Titan Insurance and Employee Benefits Agency, LLC will be our guest speaker. Mike has just returned from a conference on Health Insurance and will be sharing the latest updates on how the state is planning to handle health insurance for employers and employees. You will also have an opportunity to ask Mike questions on how you or your company may be affected. The public is invited to attend.

This month?s Business After Hours event was held at Village East Apartments, 105 Turk Hill Road, Victor. Tours of the newly re-modeled facility were offered, as was wine tasting from Casa Larga. No longer a community just for individuals aged 55 years and older, Village East is now welcoming business professional of all ages. Residents are encouraged to stop in for a tour.

Recently the chamber sponsored its First Annual Food and Brew Festival at Finger Lakes Casino and Race Track on Saturday, Sept. 22. The event was held in the gorgeous new, high-tech meeting room recently added by the Casino. An ample helping of delicious food and appetizers was provided by the Casino?s chefs. Three local brewers, Custom Brewcrafters, ROC Brewing and Ithaca Beer Company, brought multiple samples of their brews for participants to taste and enjoy. Casino food and beverage staff checked out the breweries? products also. This was all followed by tasty desserts crafted by the casino chefs.
